Community School
Community School Mission Statement
Taylor Community School is a collaborative, caring learning community where students, teachers, families, and partners work together to support the whole child. Through differentiated instruction, engaging and fun learning experiences, and rigorous academics, we build an inclusive community that develops motivated, student-led learners prepared to lead in a diverse and connected future.
Get Involved!
In traditional schools, decision-making is often left only to a limited group of individuals, resulting in decisions that may not accurately reflect the priorities, values, and concerns of the broader school community. But in a Community School we strive to make sure everyone has a voice and is able to give their opinion for where and what the Community School is doing. This means the Council and its members are able to look at all aspects of the Schools data, information, and overall vision and can develop these things together as the Community School. The stakeholders in a Community School consists of Students, Staff, Educators, Families, Community members. These important people help us shape our understanding of the issues facing our students and families, and together we come up with locally based solutions.
If you have further questions about the Community School program and/or would like to get involved please contact our Community School Impact Coordinator, Ms. Yolanda Philgreen, at yolanda.philgreen@aps.edu
